The Bougie Farmer
Who Are We
"Cultivating Agriculture & Innovation"
The Bougie Farmer is more than a farm—it’s a movement. Founded by Dr. Deidra J. Willis, our mission is to merge traditional farming practices with modern innovation. From livestock and crops to robotics and youth education, we are building a blueprint for the future of agriculture in Alabama and beyond.
We proudly hold the title as the first Black woman–owned Agribusiness Lab in Alabama, dedicated to transforming farming into a hands-on, tech-driven experience for schools, communities, and families.
What We Do
Agribusiness Lab
Our lab is home to Angus cattle, goats, chickens, muscadines, and aquaculture projects. It serves as a living classroom for students, educators, and families to explore agriculture from seed to market.
Youth Education & Curriculum
Through the Grow & Build: Agribusiness Meets Innovation curriculum, we partner with Huntsville City Schools to bring farming, robotics, and entrepreneurship directly into the classroom. Currently, we are piloting in four Title-1 schools, preparing the next generation of innovators.
Bougie Botanicals
We create value-added farm products such as goat-milk skincare, herbal teas, and farm-to-table goods, blending natural wellness with agricultural sustainability.
Community & Events
The Bougie Farmer hosts Farm Expos, vineyard jazz events, cooking demonstrations, and family workshops. Our land also features tiny homes for Airbnb, giving visitors an immersive farm experience.
